Lean production as a tool for Sustainability using Six-Sigma and VSM framework in manufacturing industry.

This study outlines a methodology merging lean, green, and social assessments within a framework combining six-sigma (DMAIC, SIPOC) and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to address bottlenecks in machining processes. Work orders, regardless of complexity, face prolonged processing times due to idle time at various stages such as cutting, forging, CNC operation, VMC operation, deburring, and packing. The objective is to identify and mitigate idle time by analyzing process duration through time, motion, and method studies, incorporating SMED principles. Implementation of this methodology promises improvements in economic, environmental, and social facets of manufacturing cells.
